I like the robustness and mechanics of Narishige products, but the electronics of the motorized controllers need to be updated to allow for remote control. I recently got this motorized axis, along with the compact controller. Unfortunately, the system has no way to be controlled via serial commands or any other way, which prevented us from integrating it into an automatic virus injection system we have in the Lab.
Well… no worries. It turns out the compact controller is nothing more than a bunch of buttons and switches that can be replaced with a PSoC module that talks to Matlab over USB UART. So now, we have the compact controller replaced by its digital version, which can be fully integrated into our virus delivery system.
